As organisers of the ROCKMAN Event we are committed to supporting sport development in our local communities. A ROCKMAN initiative was started in 2013 in aid of this. This year  we are  also collecting old sports gear from our athletes to donate to disadvantaged sports enthusiasts within the community.
Over 50 disadvantaged athletes from local communities are invited to participate. Transportation, food & refreshment, entry fees, goody bags and shirts are sponsored, and the participants gain experience in being part of an event of this nature, which would otherwise be out of their reach.
In 2014 we would like to drive “Race for a Reason” – encouraging athletes to raise funds for our initiative.
Local schools are given the opportunity to supply services and staffing in order to assist them with fundraising.
The main focus of the programme is:
Water Safety Education
Learn  to Swim
Club Development”What an awesome experience for our children who were transported by bus to the venue on the Saturday morning, where they competed in the 400m swim or the mile swim. This, for many, was their first open water swim. Each child received a goody bag which included a swimming cap and cereal bar. Lunch was provided and the kids really seemed to enjoy the experience the Rockman 2014  Event.”- Sibusiso Morris Learn to Swim Coordinator of Central Gauteng Aquatics
